On Friday October 26th, 2018, Huili School Hangzhou held its first ever Sports Day. Sport is an essential element of the Huili educational ethos in providing a holistic education. The Sport Department, led by Mr. Jason Billows, aims to use physical activities to improve children’s fitness and at the same time help them develop in a wide-range of additional areas. Whether it be team-working skills, problem-solving, or resilience, sport can promote comprehensive development.
The inaugural Sports Day was a wonderful event, and it was exciting to see the community coming together, with teachers, pupils and parents involved. Throughout the events, pupils had opportunities to compete against their peers, striving to achieve accolades not only for themselves but also for their respective Houses.
Whether they won awards or not, we congratulate all pupils on participating and doing their best. We hope our pupils and families enjoyed the day and we look forward to making next year’s Sports Day even bigger and better. Together we will continue to provide our children with ample opportunities to embrace physical exercise, with all of the benefits that come with it.
Mr. Paul Rogers, Founding Executive Master at Wellington College Hangzhou, chaired and commentated on the Sports Day along with Mr. Jonathan Mills, Head of Primary, his Deputy Head, Ms. Zoe Zou, and Mr. Guoqiang Shen, Head of Junior High.
