Read below for more information about the Academies on offer in the first term;

Football

Led by Carlton Palmer, former English Premier League football player and Academy Directorwith the support of external experienced coaches, the football Academy aims to teach both the basic and complex skills of football; passing, dribbling, shooting and the understanding of the game and tactics. We emphasise the importance of discipline and try and get the children to understand the word ‘team’.

The children learn to play using both feet, learn positional play within a team frame and how to adapt to a variety of different positions. Both boys and girls turn up with all different abilities and have fun while learning.

Swimming

Wellington swimming Academy programme covers all swimming abilities, from beginners to advanced or professional swimming. Pupils begin by learning the basics of swimming; water confidence, breathing and leg-focused movement. Founded on the fact that games and enjoyment are most productive to the learning process, lessons are filled with the fun of singing songs, water games, imitating animal sounds and movements in the water, which are all very helpful in making the children comfortable and confident with the water environment.

Boxing

Boxing is considered the most popular combat sport in the world, and is a perfect sport for kids to start from an early age. Our boxing academy is led by Shane Li, an experienced kid’s combat and fitness coach who has more than 8 years of teaching. Shane has competed in Australia for Boxing and Kyokushin Karate and has won various state titles.

Floorball

Floorball is the safest hockey sport in the world. It is played in over 60 countries and is one of the fastest growing team sports. Floorball is part of the World Games and is in line to become an Olympic sport. Both fast and fun, floorball is easy to learn, but hard to master. The light plastic equipment makes it safe and appropriate for kids. The game develops coordination, balance, and speed, as well as teamwork, sharing, and leadership.

English

Led by Simon Ruscoe-Price, Director of Language at Wellington College China, and a team of experienced teachers.

Through a discovery-based approach, the Wellington Academy Language Programme gives children the chance to make sustained progress in English against the internationally recognized common European framework for languages (CEFR). A Wellington Academy Language Passport will track and monitor your child’s progress and will set targets for their next steps in their language learning journey.

French

Our Children’s French Academy focuses on French language learning and French cultural orientation. We focus on the 5 dimensions of a foreign language learning system; Teaching through interest, Approaching by games, Reinforcing by nature, Motivating through songs and Consolidating in reading.

Taught by certified French teachers and using original textbooks, the French Academy provides not only language skills, but also a new view of the world.

Mad Science

Mad Science was founded in 1985 in Canada, and contains more than 400 Topics, 3,000 Experiments and 10,000 pieces of Equipment.

LEGO

The LEGO Academy provides a unique LEGO-based educational curriculum focused on teaching children the physics behind simple mechanics and engineering concepts found in our everyday lives.  While we all know that cars use wheels to move, what does that really mean?  How do axles figure into the picture? Instead of just showing by instruction, kids build actual working machines to help them understand the core processes going on behind the scenes!
