Robin Spillane

Rob has been teaching in Early Years education environments and settings for 6 years. He has worked with children and families from all backgrounds and supported them in order to give the best possible start to their children’s education. Alongside teaching, he taught drama across England since he was 17. He spent 9 years performing, writing and directing performances for children aged 4-18 using drama as a tool to develop social and emotional skills and developing self-confidence.

He has a degree in Drama from The University of Huddersfield where he focused on Applied Theatre – using theatre in education and its use to enhance education. He has worked with schools, professional theatre groups, actors, puppeteers and the fire brigade. After his degree he chose to study a postgraduate at Huddersfield to become an Early Years Teacher . Seeing children develop from the very earliest of ages shows how much they learn and the impact a good start to early education can have. Working in Early Years made him want to pursue a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at The University of Leeds. He taught across all key stages from children age 3-11 before specialising in Early Years.

Outside of work, he loves being active and socialising. Rob enjoys going to the theatre and listening to music and can often be found singing along to everything – he loves KTV! He plays football, badminton and goes to the gym. His love of being outside is something he wants to champion at Huili Nursery Hangzhou. He has worked hard on developing outdoor areas in different settings to encourage children to explore and experience the outdoors and use it as a fundamental tool in their education.
