David Denys

David has been a passionate and dedicated educator for the past seven years. After completing his five-year education program (with Distinction), he taught in Canada for three years before moving to Hangzhou. David has taught in Hangzhou for 4 years.

David loved teaching in Canada, but he was looking for a new challenge which is how he ended up in Hangzhou. He enjoys his daily life abroad as he appreciates the food, people, and sights that China has to offer.

Growing up in Canada, David loved sports and the competition that was involved with them. He enjoyed sports so much that he began coaching. Coaching was his first taste of teaching children new skills, and he knew from these rewarding experiences that teaching would be his future profession.

Being an athlete in high school was the spark for David joining the physical education program at the University of Manitoba. After completing this three-year program, he went on to complete his Bachelor of Education. After these programs were completed, he was ready to join the workforce as an educator.

In Canada, David enjoyed jobs that let him teach many age ranges as a classroom and PE teacher. He also took every opportunity possible to learn more about his students by coaching them in a variety of sports. David believes that dedication and consistency can be built through sport, and these important life skills will translate to all areas of one’s life.

Once David moved to China, he became more involved in creating and developing curriculum for the classes he taught. He believes that many audio and video supports are necessary for second language learners to be successful in improving their reading, writing, listening, and speaking. He enjoys creating these specific resources that will support students of all abilities.

All of David’s time in China has been focused on early childhood education. This is his favorite age range to teach because the kids have so much energy and passion for learning. David enjoys helping kids with a very small English base improve and eventually thrive using the language.

David is thrilled to be joining the team at Huili Nursery Hangzhou. He cannot wait for the fall term to start so he can meet the staff and students of the school. David has lived in Hangzhou for four years already, but he is very excited for this new venture in his life.
