Joseph Branagan Owen

Joe graduated with a degree in English Literature and History from Leeds Beckett University. He then went on complete a School’s Direct PGCE with Edge Hill University. Once qualified, he gained two years teaching experience working at a well-established secondary school in Manchester before moving to Qatar to start his international teaching career.
Joe is a Humanities teacher, specialising in History. He has experience of teaching History at KS3, GCSE and A-Level and Geography at KS3. He is a passionate Historian who believes in the importance of History as an academic subject as it helps us understand the past and the ever changing society we live in. At his previous school, Joe was the lead professional for History at GCSE and lead teacher for embedding literacy into the curriculum in the Humanities department.
Joe has always taken a keen interest in sports, having played football at school to an excellent level. He has coached football to different age groups both in and out of school. Having the opportunity to experience different extra-curricular activities is vital to help students build their social and life skills and he believes extra-curricular activities help build better teacher/student relationships.
