Josh Batters graduated from Melbourne Polytechnic with an Advanced Diploma in Music Performance. Following this, he completed a Bachelor of Arts – Music Industry from RMIT, (Royal Melbourne Institute of Tafe.)
He has performed and taught guitar for many years and is committed to providing a practical ‘hands on’ musical experience, that allows student to learn about the elements of music through playing and practicing a variety of instruments and providing opportunities for them to develop as performers.
Josh also worked in the commercial radio industry, both as a presenter and a producer, in a number of capital cities across Australia. He spent 12 months teaching kindergarten children in Fukushima Japan where he developed a love of travel, teaching, and living in another culture. Upon returning home, he completed a Graduate Diploma of Primary teaching at Deakin University and embarked upon a career in education, owing to his love of learning and a desire to nuture and inspire. Josh has over seven years of experience teaching at primary school level in a variety of roles.
Josh believes that music is unique in its ability both to transcend language barriers, in a bilingual environment, and also promote the learning of new languages. Josh is enthusiastic about his role at Huili School Hangzhou, which combines his two passions – music and teaching – and is committed to achieving the best outcomes for all students.
In his spare time, he loves playing guitar, discovering the secrets of Zhejiang and beyond and being in the outdoors with his wife and two young sons.
