Robert Fryer

Robert Fryer is from the UK and qualified with an honour’s degree in Countryside Management from Glasgow University.  He is from the West coast of Scotland, has been married for 15 years and has 2 children. Robert previously worked as a Countryside ranger for a few years before deciding to do his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in 2006 – 2007.   After qualifying Robert taught in England before he and his family moved back to Scotland.   Robert worked for the Scottish Government as an Active Schools Co-ordinator, organizing activities, for schools, related to the Commonwealth games.
Robert is talented at computing and has amassed many qualifications in this field.  He was IT Co-ordinator at one of his previous schools and in 2014 Robert and his family moved to Qatar to work for Newton British Academy.  This was a brand-new school and Robert setup the Primary and Secondary IT departments for 1700 students. He worked at Newton for 4 years and advanced to become Learning Technology & MIS Coordinator.  Robert believes it is essential to have a talent for fostering a child’s appetite for learning and for motivating them through enthusiastic, imaginative presentation, particularly with use of current computing technologies. He advocates that students must develop their curiosity, creativity, communication skills and critical thinking skills to excel in the modern world.
Robert really enjoys coding and robotics and previously took students to compete in interschool and National competitions.  Robert also enjoys the countryside, was a scout leader for 3 years and is a keen sailor.  He particularly enjoys watching F1, cooking, reading, swimming and is excited about exploring new technologies available at Huili and Wellington Colleges.
