Tom Li graduated from the National University of Singapore, with a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics. He began his teaching career in Singapore after graduation. He has taught students from Grade 1 to Grade 12, and experienced different curricula, including iGCSE, A-level and IB with various pedagogies. To strengthen subject knowledge and teaching skills, Tom pursued a higher degree in the National Institute of Education, NTU, Singapore. He graduated with a Master’s degree of Mathematics in 2017.
Seeing improvement in students’ ability in Mathematics and Science, as well as their school results gives Tom immense satisfaction. He is willing to commit his time and energy to assist the students to attain their fullest potential. A diligent teacher who always seeks for improvement, he is confident that his knowledge and experience will be an asset to his students’ growth and school’s development.
One of Tom’s interests is Maths Olympics. He was trained in this area and won various awards when he was young. He continued coaching students in Singapore local primary schools as part of CCA programs since the beginning of his teaching career. He was also involved in developing related teaching materials for the Maths Olympics. Many students of his won awards in international Maths competitions, including Gold Award in Singapore and Asian School Maths Olympiad (SASMO) and American Mathematics Competition (AMC) Year 10 division, top 2.5% position in the world.
Nature has always been appealing to him. In Tom’s free time, he enjoys hiking, swimming and reading, especially philosophy and psychology related.
