Valene Phillip

Valene has been a Primary school teacher for five years. She taught for three years in a school in London before working for two years in a school in Shanghai.

Prior to teaching, Valene studied an English Language undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester. After university, Valene worked in an inclusive nursery school as a Special Needs Assistant. She worked alongside the Special Educational Needs Coordinator in a small special needs group. The children in this group had a variety of special needs, but most of the children had autism. The nursery was visited by various therapists, such as Speech and Language therapists and Educational Psychologists.

As a primary teacher Valene has worked in various schools, in London and aboard, that have a large number of children who are learning English as an additional language.

In her free time, Valene enjoys travelling. Since living in China, she has had the opportunity to travel around Asia. She also enjoys walking and reading. Valene can often be found at a café reading a book and drinking a pot of tea!

Valene is excited about teaching at Wellington College Hangzhou; she is looking forward to becoming a part of the school community. Valene is passionate about outdoor learning and helping the environment. She is excited about sharing these passions with the children in Hangzhou.
