Wayne Wildey Graham

After completing a 4 year B.Ed (Hons.) degree at Leicester University, Wayne has worked in Primary schools for 27 years in both teaching and managerial posts. Since 2004, he has been working in international schools, with the past 3 years spent teaching in a Primary school in Nanjing, China. Working in a range of different settings, with such a diverse membership of both staff and pupils, has deepened his appreciation of the positive impact that cultural differences have in an educational setting.

As a Primary specialist, Wayne has helped research, develop and implement programs in all areas of the National Curriculum across all age groups, and has a particular enthusiasm for using music and song in his daily teaching of children with English as a Second Language. One of his greatest rewards is seeing these children grow more and more confident with their speaking.

Along with learning English as a Second Language, Wayne’s other passion is Philosophy for Children (P4C), which is well known for its positive effects on children’s emotional awareness and thinking skills.

From a very early age Wayne has always enjoyed learning languages, something he regularly puts to use when travelling. He is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English, and is eager to develop his Chinese further.

In his spare time he loves to travel, read the newspaper, and go for long walks with his family and two dogs.

Wayne is very excited to be joining Huili School Hangzhou and is looking forward to working with staff, parents and children within the Wellington community.
