Yeimi Villegas

Yeimi completed her Psychology Post Graduate Diploma with the aim of understanding and practicing child psychology in depth. She is very passionate about working with children and is very excited to work at Wellington College Hangzhou as it has always been her dream to work internationally, especially in China. Her bachelor’s degree is in Criminology and she graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge in 2010.

With almost 2 years experience as a private tutor (mainly in English and Spanish) working with children between the ages of 5-11, as well as working as a teaching assistant in a UK primary school for a year, Yeimi feels that she is ready to bring this experience to China and put all the skills and knowledge acquired to practice in a different country. Yeimi finds working as a teaching assistant very enjoyable and fulfilling as it allows her to work with a mix of educational professionals, and at the same time, learn from their expertise.

From an early age, Yeimi has expressed an interest in working with children and her dream is to become a fully qualified primary school teacher in the near future. Yeimi is very interested in languages, speaking both English and Spanish fluently. As she experienced the process of learning a second language when she moved to London from Colombia at the age of 6, she comprehends the support and dedication a child requires when learning a new language and adapting to a new culture.

Yeimi is also very passionate about sports and was part of the football and netball teams in primary and secondary school. In her spare time she also enjoys running and completed a half marathon run in London in 2017. This was a great personal achievement for her and she is looking forward to running a full marathon in the near future.

Yeimi is very keen to be joining Huili Nursery Hangzhou this year, as it is a very exciting time of progress and growth, which she wants to be part of. Her aspirations are to grow personally and professionally, working beside amazing educational professionals from both Huili Nursery and Wellington College. Moving to China is a very big step that Yeimi is taking in her career and she is sure that by being part of the Wellington Community, she will be representing and working with the top professionals in the education sector. Learning a new language and emerging herself into the Chinese culture and lifestyle is an exciting journey Yeimi is keen to take.
