Zoe Helen Powell

Zoe Helen Powell has been teaching in the UK for 13 years after receiving her PGCE in Early Years in 2005 from The University of Derby.  Zoe is passionate about teaching children of all ages and has gained experienced working with children aged 2 – 11. Her forte lies with the early years where she believes that every child has the ability to reach their potential through adult led and child-initiated activities inside and outside the classroom. She places a high value of children’s wellbeing and believes that a happy and content child will engage in their learning and have high levels of involvement.
For 7 years Zoe specialised in teaching primary aged children with individual learning needs before returning to her passion of Early years. She has taught children aged 3 – 7 for the past 4 years in Nottingham, inner city primary schools. As a practitioner in the field of education, it has always been important for Zoe to keep up to date with current developments in Early Years Education. She has attended many courses that have enabled her to reflect on developments in education and enhance her teaching. An advocate for the Read! Write! Inc programme, Zoe has been able to support other educators in other settings with their teaching of phonics.
Prior to teaching, Zoe worked in schools as a teaching assistant supporting children with social, behaviour and emotional difficulties. Zoe’s time away from work mainly includes spending quality time with friends, communicating with friends and family back in the UK, exploring new and exciting places and watching a good film. She is also a keen photographer and a great lover of animals.
